Published On: 17 July 2024 | Categories: #patients, #project | 1 min read |

Two of our CGI-Clinics team from IRB Barcelona, Olivia Tort and Santiago Demajo, were recently interviewed on a podcast aimed at patients and their loved ones, explaining how advanced technology helps customise cancer treatment based on individual tumour characteristics. They also explain how the CGI-Clinics project fits into this. The podcast was hosted by the PCM4EU (Precision Medicine for Europe) project, which campaigns for personalised cancer medicine for all EU citizens.

This fascinating interview is in Spanish but after clicking ‘Play’ you can click ‘Settings’ and then select Closed Captions in your own language.

These are the main themes that Olivia and Santi discuss in the video:
🧬 Personalised treatment tailors therapies to individual tumour characteristics.
🧪 Sequencing DNA identifies specific mutations in cancer tumours.
💊 Targeted therapies focus on mutations with specific drugs.
📊 Data analysis from thousands of tumours improves treatment understanding.
🏥 Clinical trials explore new therapies for effective cancer treatment.
🌍 Global collaboration enhances cancer research and treatment options.
🧠 AI and machine learning aid in interpreting complex genomic data.
🤝 Patient participation in research drives advancements in cancer care.
